^Yep, you're wrong.

Clipping is the act of lopping off the top of the waveforms. Some clipping is good, distortion is caused by clipping pretty much. But you can get really harsh gross clipping too.

distortio is when the top of the waves (peaks) are actually cut off, so there is a flat top to the wave peaks.

overdrive is when the wave tops are CURVED off, leavning a smoother sound. both are forms of clipping, but the first example is more common in SS amps and also when you shout into a 3 quid mic.
