Just wondering if anyone out there who owns an Epiphone Vintage SG G400 (or regular SG) like I do replaced their humbuckers. If so, what ones do you recommened??

When changing pickups, ask yourself, "Whats wrong with these? Are they broken? What kind of tone do I want from this guitar? What kind of tone am I looking for? Do I know how to install pickups correctly without damaging my guitar?"
And I don't stand a chance against the monsters that my mind creates.

nah, don't ask any of those questions.

Well, actually, I agree with all of them except the last one. But I personally believe in tinkering, especially on cheap instruments (no offense, of course). But yeah, don't think you have to replace them just because everyone else says something. If you like them, go with 'em. If YOU don't like them, we can give you some recommendations based on what you tell us your price range and preferred styles of music are.

I go by the rule of: if it's not broken, don't fix it. But if you want to change them I'd say the emg 81/85 setup is popular.

Yeah, popular for metalheads and pretty much no one else AND requires a lot of modification to the guitar, which can be expensive if he can't do it himself. I *think* we could name some passives that would work out well for him.

Jenny needs to sow her wild oats with random Gibsons and Taylors she picks up in bars before she settles down with a PRS.

Thanks for all the help guys. I currently own a Roland Cube 30 amplifier thats brand new. I don't play in a band or anything and mainly play with or for my friends and family. I play a lot of rock music - ACDC, Metallica, System of a down, shinedown, some skynyrd, nirvana. Based on that what humbuckers should i think about getting? I have an uncle whos a guitar specialist who would install them for free if i ever got them. But other than that, i don't have a price range really, nothing out of this world although. I mean, I think they sound pretty good, but i've never compared them to anyone elses so i don't really know how much better it could sound. If you guys could respond it'll help me alot. Thanks again

I would say try to find a stock Gibson bridge pick-up (forgot the names), for the ACDC and new SOAD sounds.
