Im looking at buying a 1978 Twin Reverb on Ebay but it's tubes have been replaecd with Sovteks. Will this dramatically change the tone and warmth of the amp?

Will I still get the great Twin Sound?

Is it still worth it at 400$?

a twin reverb will sound like a twin reverb.

Tubes wont DRAMATICALLY change the tone of the amp, putting new tubes into the fender wont make it a high gain monster or anything.

Think of tubes as a customizeable part. you can buy different tubes, switch them around, etc, to taylor to your exact tone you want.

I'm uncertain how much the amps are worth, so I wont comment. However, I wouldn't be buying a tube amp with its stock tubes that are 30 years old! They'd certainly need replaced by now.

Sounds like a good deal to me...new tubes only cost around 60 bucks max though for a set.

wouldnt be too bad but try to talk him down see how cheap you can get it

$400 is an amazing price for a Twin, and a valve change shouldn't cost stupid amounts.
And yup, it'll sound like a Twin with the stock valves still in there.

Its a bit different from mine, but you'll love it. I got my twin couple years ago, and its the best thing ive bought. You cant go wrong with a good clean tone to build your sound out of.
