I've been listening to Tool for a long time and I love how Justin makes use of his whammy pedal (examples: Lateralus, Schism, Disposition, Third Eye, Rosetta Stoned, etc)...And I was wondering if there were any Whammy pedals made specifically for bass that were mass produced...

So far I've only found one whammy pedal and I dont think its bass-compatible, its a red Digitech Whammy pedal...At the moment I'm using the whammy effect on my BP80 but it sounds really artificial and pretty bad on some notes...

Thanks

^yea but then those are a bìtch to install, what with all the routing and stuff...Then you cant know exactly how much you can do with one and wont know if its worth it...Like do you know how many semitones you can go up?...Can you do divebombs and other crazy whammy stuff like that?...I dont think real bass trems can go up or down a full octave and stuff like that...But if they can and you've had experience with some then, by all means, prove me wrong...Or just gimme a link with some other guys experience...

Plus they cost like 300 dollars...And they're only for adding more vibrato and stuff..

Just use the Whammy pedal that Digitech makes, it works the same on any instrument. Also, if you have more money, you might want to try the electro harmonix POG.

^ It makes a difference.

And to everyone suggesting a wah-wah pedal: shut up and die or learn how to read

Digitech used to make the blue Bass Whammys.

You CAN use one of the normal whammy's, but it's better on bass. Case in point: justin chancellor uses a BASS whammy.

And he uses it to harmonize with himself also. Thusly, digitech bas whammy > whammy bar due to it being a) more versatile whammy b) much less c) you don't cut a hole in your bass d) you can harmonize with yourself

I saw one sell on ebay for 200 bucks earier this month. Seems a fair price.

^ Be sure to thank pedricko too, he remembered the blue bass whammy too.

But yeah, I woudln't be suprised if you don't IMMEDIATELY find one on ebay, but they pop up, so all you got to do is wait a while. They're pretty cool, I'm considering getting on in the summer (After Wah + Compressor) to mess around with.
