I am interested in playing pedal steel guitar, but I don't really know where to start. I've looked around, but i can't find much solid info (if anyone reccommends Google, i'ma gonna flip out.) I've been researching this for about a month now, but i've only come up with dead ends. My questions are:

Does anyone here play, or know someone who plays pedal steel?
Can anyone recommend a good pedal steel for starting?
Can anyone recommend instructional materials?
Any other advice?

Thanks.

I can't help, but I'd sure like to encourage you. I got an introductory lesson from a really good pedal steel player many years ago and I was stoked. This guy had a Sho-bud if memory serves. It had two necks and more pedals and levers than the space shuttle. I couldn't continue because my band was on the road and I didn't have an instrument. I keep telling myself I'm going to pick it up again someday...

Anyway, good luck, and I hope you'll let us all know what you find out. I for one am very interested in hearing how your search goes.
