I like that technique...besides, its not written somewhere in stone that you aren't allowed to reinterpret others songs to fit your own style.

lol I Agree with yours
Dont Pick fingerpicking parts with your pick.
Dont solo with your first 2 fingers(yes theres people that do that).
Dont let any1 in front of you see your thumb.
Dont Play any leads at a non stop blistering speed with no phrasing Or hold one note for a minute
Dont make feedback noise on purpose and call it a solo.

What?

Don't want to be an actor pretending on the stage
Don't want to be a writer with my thoughts out on the page
Don't want to be a painter 'cause everyone comes to look
Don't want to be anything where my life's an open book

^he means you're supposed to have your thumb hidden behind the neck at all times, even though it can greatly help you mute the bottom couple of strings.

Yeah I always do that .. just curious how thats a problem.

I'm actually surprised I found that "bad" pic... Randy was pretty notorious for not doing that... but this should go in Electric Guitar... not Classic Rock

I think it's just like keeping your fingers curled when you type... when you practice that way (as opposed to otherwise) you can play much more accurately, cleaner and faster... but **** it it's too hard so I just don't do it

Having your thumb curled around the neck is bad technique to begin with. Most any one can tell you that.
