i dont need them for their loudness i just want the better one.. all i do is really get together with a guitar and drummer . . no gigs

Tubes my friend, tubes. Especially for your classic rock sound. Nothing, and I mean nothing sounds like a tube amp. Yes it costs more. Frankly, sound=money, no matter how you slice it. Sure, there are deals out there, and some SS amps can attempt to come close to duplicating that tube sound, but why get a replica when you can have the real deal?

Well, marshall is like the first brand that comes to mind when i think of classic rock amps

marshall amps have great classic rock and good metal sounds, so i would go for that

but if your more interestend in metal, you should check out a KranK

Easily. Although instead of a distortion pedal get an O/D pedal, e.g Tubescreamer.
