well that one thread didnt help me at all, so if this is redundant im sorry...

Basically, whats the difference??

So i have a tascam us-122 for recording and it sounds ok... but i head pre-amps sound great.

So heres what im thinking, should i get just a preamp like this? (for recording guitar by meyself at home. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-MIC200-Tube-Ultra-Gain-Preamp?sku=182491

or go for this thing so i can record drums, bass, vox and stuff all at same time ( for my band ) http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-Eurorack-UB1222FXPRO-Mixer?sku=631229

do these do the same thing just the mixer has 6 mic inputs and not one?? or what??
FYI we are recording drums, bass, guitar, vox, and harmony vox posibbly even another guitar, so thats why i want atleast 6 inputs on the mixer. are there better pre's or mixers to buy than these??

After i buy one of these, do i plug the output of the mixer/preamp into the input of the us-122 or do i plug it into the insert L/R ones or mic inputs or what?!?

And lastly, should i buy one or buy both?

the mixer has phantom power but is not a preamp. You only use phantom power with condensers. With a preamp you can use both dynamic and condensers and get a nice good warm tube sound.

Depends what you want more quality of you mixes or more space to record drums and such.
