ok ive had a guitar for my whole life but ive taken it serisosly over the past 2 and a half yrs. but heres my problem i will sit in class and write some really good lyrics but then i cant put riffs to it .Then i will be sittin one day and i will write a good riff but then i cant find ny good lyrics or write ny good lyrics to go with it . am i havin a writers block. or im not meant to write i mean i do have some songs with melodies and lyrics but this has been the thing with me for over the past couple months. im open to suggestions.

try come up with some chord progressions, just for simple chors e.g E G F A, then just work around some scales on these chords, arpegiate them(play each note seperalty, but in any order) or just play what sounds right with each chord, this should help you get a foudation for the song.

My best advice to you, since I went through the same delima, is to keep track of everything you write. Riff and lyric. You will find that most of the time there are many combinations that can form.
