which one? I play metal, classic rock, hard rock, some punk, jazz, but i want to have a large range of genres. By the way, does that last amp come with the head and the speaker? Thanks.

If I where you a would get a used JCM800 on Ebay or somthing. they are very versatile. and probably should go for a combo. out of those Id go for the AVT 50 watt combo.

Shredding is having control over your instrument and being free of technical obstacles so your music is not limited by your playing ability.

MGs sucks, the third of your options is a head, in which case you'll be needing a cab = more money. So yeah, go for the AVT50 off of musiciansfriend.

'd reccomend saving some more for a randall RG50TC which goes for 550 dollars. Its a very good amp for all kinds of rock, although the jazz might prove a challenge. Here's a link:

If you want better cleans that either the marshall or the randall has to offer, you might consider a fender hotrod deluxe and an overdrive pedal. Its 50 more than the randall though, + the 30-40 bucks for a decent overdrive pedal. Link:

Edit: Here's a link to the AVT50HX, the head costs 500, the half stack 900 and the full stack 1,300. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitar/navigation?q=marshall+avt50hx

^I disagree. If you're serious about guitar as a hobby or more, its better to go all in and get a tube amp right away. You're not specifying if its your first amp? If not, i'd get a tube. A solid state won't achieve the same sound that you'll be wanting.

MG = no tone.

I'd take a tube amp over any solid state. Especially for a large range of genres.
