Does anyone listen to Derek Trucks? He is an amazing slide guitarist in his 20's who has played with the Allman Brothers and is touring with Clapton now.

Anyways for those of you who do, do you know what tunings he plays in. Also, what types of scales does he play, and how long does it take to learn to play in those tunings?

Thanks.

If he's who I think he is (Lefty guy with no paint on part of his guitar?) he has the strings upside down.

No, he doesn't play with the strings upside down. He plays a gibson, and I am pretty sure he is righty.

I don't know what scales he frequents, but I believe he plays his parts mostly in open E tuning.

Zakk Wylde.
He's like Elton John but with a guitar, more stylish clothes, and not gay.

open E being from low to high, E-B-E-G#-B-E... or it could also be E-G#-E-G#-B-E... but the first one is most common

and the guy that plays left handed with the strings upsidedown is Doyle Braham II, a great guitarist as well

Open E, A, and D. Remember to raise the action if you intend to use a slide.

And then God came down from his silver throne
And said, 'Honey, that water ain't free

Derek Trucks is so talented. Honestly on his way to becomming a legend. I have the Allman Brothers: Live at the Beacon DVD and just watching him play makes me wish I could do half of the things he does on a guitar.

He only uses Open E, guys. Read his website.

But yes, he's ****ing amazing!

here you go boy, but i must warn you, this video causes suicide temptations

I've never had any suicidal intentions from that video but I have come close to pulling out my wee-man and wanking to that.

I've seen Derek with The Brothers and have heard a little bit of his solo stuff. He's an awesome guitarist.

I finally received Joyful Noise in the mail the other day and I'm blown away. Derek Trucks is one of the most versatile guitarists of today. He really inspires me to want to get better at slide.

He's one of the best guitarists I have ever seen. I've seen the Allman Brothers band three times with him, the Derek Trucks band twice and I've seen him play with Phil Lesh and Friends once. He's one of the most exciting young guitarists out there. A worthy heir to the throne of Duane.

Seen DTB twice? I envy your very being!

I really really really really really REALLY ****ING REALLY want to see his band live. Studio CDs aren't enough!

Saw him twice with ABB, though, will be three times this September.

I've seen him once with The Allman Brothers Band - it would've been twice had my dad and I chosen them over the Yankees and Red Sox, which we should have done since the Yankees lost.

I'll most likely see him twice this year - with The Allman Brothers Band and again with Eric Clapton.

Derek Trucks makes me want to commit suicide (and I mean that in the most non-emo way possible). Jesus, he is good.

I saw him on Conan O' Brian and he was very good.

Yeah, I got to see him live in Februrary. He is a God, no doubt about it.
I simply cannot take this god-awful place anymore. Goodbye to all the good people here. The rest can fuck off.
