First of all, I love Fender Japan. They say the reason they stopped importing them is because they rivaled the Americans in quality and the American factory feared not getting any business, so they stopped importing them.

Second, I think you should get it, and you won't have any problems bringing it back here if you're getting it in Japan.

If you're going to Japan, check out the smaller shops outside of or other than Tokyo which offer used Fenders. The amazing thing is that most have their original manuals, hex wrench, tag with the gigbag or HSC the guitar came with originally. Better bang for the $$$ since a lot of the used for sale look mint or are in very decent condition. I have 3 MIJ Fender Strats and 1 MIJ Squier (my first and my favorite).

Not sure what you think about Cobain-inspired Jagstangs, but they're more common there, too.

And if you want the LP sound, there are old Gibson copies priced like high-end Epiphones: Burny, Orville, Tokai, etc. Don't forget the Strat copies from Tokai, etc.

Definately check out the Tokai strats.... many claim they are even better than the USA models. I drooled over a Tokai Golden strat here but it was out of my range (but then Ontario Canada sucks for buying guitars).

They're shocking guitars for the price (good that is....) they're on par with USA Strats, and they're much cheaper too.

Can you just tell me,
the matter is like I can buy either:

a totally new Japanese Strat made of alder for $750-800 or
a used American Strat for $850-900 or
a used Japanese one for $500-600 for the alder body or finally
a used Japanese again, but mada bass-wood for $400-$500

So what do you thing may be a better choise?

Thanks in advance

They look nice, are they the new Jap ones?

Personally, I'd get a '57 Reissue.
