Not quite, the wood would change the tone, it would however be nice and thick and creamy.

Try a Dimarzio Super Distortion, it might be too much output for the music you like, but the upside is it sound really thick, meaty.. more les paul-y

yeah, well i like classic rock, but i really like that big mettalica diastortion sound added to it...

and i wont have to decide to christmas...

So.. the Super Distortion should be good... does very well with classic rock (with some better volume pots put in.. roll the volume down a little for a better sound for early classic rock.. the Stones, Beatles, etc) and metal too.

You might just want to try the PAF in the bridge, which is warm, classic rocky, and.. frankly low output pickups are fine with a high gain amp for metal.
