Afternoon guys, i was wondering if there were any videos on this site / forum or on another website that explains various guitar techniques.

Ive been having lessons now for about a month and a half and my teacher is teaching me songs that he has written himself. But last lesson we had a jamming session on the Arctic Monkeys song - fake tales of san francisco - but he incorporated a couple of slides into the song so i got used to using the technique. I found using the slide helped me to learn the song quicker as though it made me more interested in it - strange to describe really!!!

Ive heard people mention bends, hammer-ons, pull offs etc but without being shown or reading a description of the technique i dont know if im doing them right.

And when im trying to learn some tab songs off this website that incorporate the above things im pretty much stumped. For example i recently tried to learn -

Fleetwood Mac - Albatross
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Lenny Kravitz - are you gonna go my way

But when i look at the tab i just end up getting confused or the song sounds wrong.

Any help

Thanks

He's been playing for a month and a half and you're recommending shred masterclass vids? I dunno about that.

Go for Pick N Grin. Also, check out cyberfret.com there's lessons on every guitar technique out there (and on average they're pretty good.)

Thanks again guys, im getting the hang of a few things now.

Come across this symbol today - what does it mean or is it a variation of something else?

2-^4-^2-p0 - Not sure about the half triangle - a bend or something?

Id assume that meant a bend. But depending on the song, and style, i suppose you could do a hammer on the 4th fret as well.

OK Thanks mate.

The song was Lenny Kravitz's "Are you gonna go my way"

I'll give it a go later on.
