Hey, ive decided to make a bulid thread because i got bored of making new threads for each bit of help i needed.
So here are the specs and a few pics of whats been going on so far

Neck: one i stole off of my schools POS washburn guitar
24 medium frets, mother of pearl dot inlays, Ebony Fingerboard, cream headstock
Saloped fingerboard (frets 12-24)
Body: i found it in a shop for £15 and its a good body. im not sure of the make (any help?)
Black and cream cheveron pattern with a painted on cream binding
Hardware: Floyd rose original,
not too sure about tuners yet (i have a set of grovers that came with the neck but they are chrome),
1 volume, 1 tone but i want it to have a mid scoop on a push-pull type thing(any ideas?)
3 way toggle switch
All Black
Pickups: i was thinking BKP miracle man set or duncan distortion set

ok i have a few questions now....
1. How can i do the mid scoop thing?
2. The Headstock on the neck looks awful, is there a way of sticking a piece of wood onto it to get a better shape or does anyone have any ideas on how to make it look any better?
3. the nut is not FR prepared, is there a way of doing this easily?

Thanks for the help in advance and ill keep everyone posted

what with the frets......................................................................
#3
Yeah I dno if its the lighting or something (and I realize the fretboard is scaloped)..but it looks pretty messed up man...and you could just sand down/paint over the headstock.
#4
its not the colour or the wood of the headstock that im worried about cos thats gonna get painted anyway, its the shape......
idealy i want a jackson style headstock but with that thing im gonna have to go sorta ibanez on it.
i only started scaloping the frets the other day but im almost done now and they look really good.

im shure you can sand the finnish off of the headstock, and glue a wood plank on to it if you wanted to

Yeah looks like some sort of ibanez body, it's really sexy with the stripes! Looking forward to the finished guitar, happy build !

most likely ibanez as its got that wizard style neck pocket,

for your headstock,

get two peices of maple (same thickness as the headstock) then glue one to each side of it it with titebond (works like a charm) then clamp it with two clamps, let it dry for 24 hours or more then sand it with 80 over the joined maple pieces, then move up to 180, then up to 240

then draw ur design out on the wood and cut it using a coping saw, try not to cut over the line too much, then sand the sides down and there you have your headstock

someone refinished that body once before....just fyi

shecter-06: thanks thats a great idea

evan50150: no its a new body. it had quite alot of deep dings in it so i got my grandfather to use some filler on it

Did you paint the cream with a brush!?!?!

But man, I like the way the black turned out. I would, if it were my guitar, make it so the cream looks like that.

you know what i like, is the fact that the scalloped frets just look like normal rosewood and the non scalloped frets look like ebony....and one ? are you trying to have the black come off in some spots or was that just a mistake? Cuse its actually turning out pretty cool with the black like that.....

im not. i kinda wanted it nice and perfect but seeing as i cant find my black paint i might have to go with it......

and yes will_minus i did paint it with a brush. i want a hand painted look and i cant afford any smokes at the moment let alone sprays

Edit: here is a pic of what i hope it will look like when its done just with fatter stripes and a cream binding:

for the headstock make a mould out of flour water and glue, dry it, then place the headstock in, work woodfiller around it, sand it down once its dry then paint

There's no such thing. It looks like an approximation of an AANJ, but it isn't Ibanez-styled. For starters, the shape of the heel is wrong (body shape too, actually), and secondly, there's five screw-holes.
