A guy I know from another forum is in the market for a tube stack, I have offered him what advice I can, but I figured that you dudes may have some better suggestions.

He is willing to spend around $2000 us and is willing to go used.

He dosent want anything too bright nor so dark that it is muddy.

heres a quote from him

"I'm partial to a huge low end, but I'll need it to be versatile, though I don't need A LOT of tightness "

he plays heavier styles, hes into stuff like LOG, Necrophagist, BTBAM, pantera, slayer etc

any suggestions?

i'm gonna say its between a recto and a mark. recto will have more low end, but the mark will be more virsitle, and more nuetral on the dark/bright issue.

mark is more versitle though. and how huge the bass is also depends alot on the cab. i'll use my reference from another thread.

i was playing a carvin mts in GC the other day. first through a marshall 4x12. it sounded pretty stock, nothing really standing out. then i put it through a mesa standard 2x12 and the bass was punching my chest.

so cab is also VERY important.
