Flat (b) is a semi-tone lower than the natural, Sharp (#) is a semi-tone higher. Technically F is E#, but most people would say E has no sharp.

I know this may seem very obvious to most, but on a guitar's fretboard there are no E# or B# notes. I hope this helps somebody.
