Child in Time is great, I also like Wasted Sunsets, Pictures of home, Anya and a few more. I only really like the Ritchie era's though, Bolin was alright too just not too much of a fan of the other guitarists.

Hush
Burn (love the drums in burn, Ian Paice is great)

Actually i just saw them last year...tho Ian Gillian has pretty much lost his voice...and Richie Blackmore hasnt been with them for a LONG time....but still it was good...and Steve Morse (who was replacing Blackmore, not sure if he still is) is a great guitar player.

Love Child is my favorite, but it's kinda hard to pick. They've got some other greats, like Burn and Lazy.

And I have to love Smoke on the Water. Playing it a few times live has led me to local fame.

Definately Lazy. Lazy has everything, sick guitar soloing, awesome major/minor scale organ riffing, kicka$$ bluesey organ playing, totally an amazing song.

Also, let's see how many posts we can go without somebody saying Smoke on the Water is their favorite Deep Purple song.

I'm going to assume no one else around you plays guitar?

Hey he could throw in a really cool Blackmoreish solo just becuase its one of the most popular riffs and not a hard song doesnt mean you cant do some great improv on it and impress ppl

Don't you love how every guitar player in the galaxy can play Smoke On The Water (a lot of them actually play it wrong) and have no idea about the solo. Idiots.

^^The solo isn't that impressive compared to some of Blackmore's other stuff.

I think a lot of the reason why Quintessence153 "has been led to local fame" is because the song is so well-known and recognized that people think it's awesome if you can play it.

The same thing occurs with songs like Stairway to Heaven, All Right Now, etc.
#13
^^Fo sho. I think that for the first months that you own a guitar, any song you can play sounds awesome to you, as long as you're playing it fairly accurately. I guess Smoke On The Water gets bonus points for being popular.

Same with Stairway, but i LOVE when somebody can play it correctly (finger-picking, doing the parts hitting the E and D strings at the same time).

There really is no other way to play it, it isn't stairway elseway xD..

Ritchie Blackmore is my favorite artist so I like Deep Purple, Rainbow, and sometimes I like listengint to Blackmore's Night. However, when friends ask me what my favorite band is I just say Deep Purple even though it's a combination of Deep Purple and Rainbow (with Dio). None of my friends who ask me that question know about Rainbow, which is sad but not enough to piss me off so I won't be friends with them any longer haha. Anyways, Child In Time is my favorite song. Lazy would be seconds. I also like the solos in Highway Star and even Smoke On The Water has a nice one. When Coverdale was the lead singer, I liked Burn, Soldier of Fortune, and Mistreated. O forgot to say, I like Gillian's vocals on When A Blind Man Cries. Also, Wring That Neck is sweet.

I'm not trying to say I have ability because, guess what! I don't play guitar! Imagine that! I was merely making a point, asshole.

yes, why are people so bitchy?. anyway, Made in Japan is simply great I think that there is where Blackmore showed himself really, the Child in TIme solo, the Highway star solo and more, were simply great...but it was good for Deep Purple that he left, even though I just listen to the Blackmore era

Yeah, Made in Japan is an awesome album. I wish Ritchie didn't leave, though, or atleast I wish he was touring with them.

I hear that Morse is a great guitarist, but Blackmore... it's Ritchie ****ing Blackmore.

^I haven't heard any Morse stuff, but as you said they say he's a great guitarist.
After Blackmore left a then after Lord left, Deep Purple just stopped being Deep Purple

He sorta is arrogant. If what he said to Ian Gillan about Clapton "not being able to play guitar" is true, then thats arrogant.

But Ritchie Blackmore smokes Eric Clapton as a guitarist. So he can back it up. He's one of the rare conceded people in the world that can actually back it up.
