I have a tremolo on my guitar, but I've never quite figured out how to effectively use it. Could anyone direct me to some songs or artists that use the tremolo well? I listen to mostly rock and classic rock, btw. Also, none of that Steve Vai stuff. I don't nearly have enough skill for that.

Or, alternatively, are vibratos the only thing that tremolo bars are good for? It just seems pretty easy to do that without a tremolo, though.

What kind of tremolo do you have?
Vintage or double locking?

Vintage. That means it only bends the sound down, right? I own a cheapass Strat knockoff, so I'm pretty sure it's vintage.

Why do people say it only bends down?
You can tighten the strings or loosen them with it....

vintage can do pull ups . . . .

just loosen the spring. Its hard to explain in words, but when in tune, the bridge will be slightly off the body and you can do pull ups now

^Intstead of having it sit level, half it so when tuned the bridge is lifted about a 1/4 inch off the body, you can pull up, and come down. My Strat is set like that.
~~One Off Custom Strat~~
- 3 piece alder body
- Maple on rosewood 21 fret neck
- '82 Fender pickups

~~'92 Toyota Supra~~

- 1JZ-GTE (TT, front mount intercooler, 15~psi)
- Tuned on 93 octane
- HKS 3" exhaust
