I like peavey guitars, I used to own a Generation Series. mahogany body, neck thru tele with active humbucker and single, carved top too, birds eye maple neck, ebony fretboard, dark grey quilt top, Kahler Spyder trem. $900 on sale for $550 in 1992, I gave it to my younger brother for his HS graduation present.

The amps are amazing! I haven't played any of the guitars, but I've heard good things about their basses before.

I don't hate Peavey's... They have some good stuff and their amps are amazing.

And of course their cheaper lower end stuff won't be that great. Many other guitar/amp companies have some cheap crap products as well.

Edit: You're paranoid.

What guitar company actually puts out good low-end gear  ?

I've actually never really heard of too many people who hate Peavey, just the random person here or there who don't like the tones of some of their amps [the XXX in general, though it's amazing for metal, IMO].

Washburn makes me want to vomit in my own mouth, I really can say I've never played a Washburn that sounded good to me, and I've played a lot [it's one of the only kinds of guitars the local music store sells]. Agile I don't want to bother with, 'cause I just wouldn't want to play a knock-off guitar.

I no longer own a peavey amp...but I recall distinctly taking the thing apart once, and finding, on the reverb box attached to the amp, the following inscription:

"Made by attractive women, in climate controlled environments."

Classic, what is not to like about that?
-Epiphone Riviera w/ Bigsby and Gibson 490r/498t combo
-Epiphone Es-333 Delonge Edition
-Fender Twin Reverb '65
