What makes the Gibson Les Paul Custom so different from the Standard Gibson LP?(besides the finishes) and is it worth the extra cash?

I think it just has more extras. Better inlays, back binding...I think that's about it.

Doesn't the Custom have a chambered body?
There once was a man who really loved salt
So he tied his nose to the sea
And then God came down from his silver throne
And said, 'Honey, that water ain't free

So better meaning better looking meaning preference for several hundred more. Gibson

Several hundred for binding and "nicer" inlays, anyone should agree, is a little much.

^It is. Gibson tacks on so much more for the name or some stupid extra that it's rediculous.

Anyway, back on topic, are there any other differences besides back binding and square inlays on the Custom?

Ebony fretboard, stock Grover tuners (at least on the ones I've seen), possible chambered body, Burstbucker pups, 3 pup option, select woods, bumblebee capacitors, long-neck tenon, and the new Vintage Original Spec the Custom Shop is running. There's tons more, but I'm sleepy. I could be even more elaborate if you like, but I think its worth the difference.
My Gear:
Fender Japan Strat (80s)
Gibson SG Standard
Epi Goth Explorer (FAV)
Fender HotRod DeVille
Ibanez TS-9
Akai Wah Pedal

Are we talking Gibson or Epi?

If it's Epi, there's basically no difference.

If it's Gibson, the Custom is much better constructed.
