Never heard of Johnson pedals...probably low end.

Try the new planet waves pedal tuner. Cheap (compared to other high end models), true bypass, best display of them all (I tried them all before buying it), and very very accurate. Great pedal!

If you want a good, inexpensive chromatic tuner pedal, try the Fender PT-100. It's not true bypass, but it has minimal effect on your signal. And it's quite accuracte too.

Seconded. I bought this because I didn't have the money for the Boss TU-2 and I have not regretted it. This pedal is great. Very easy to see in dark situations and like stated, it is true bypass.
