Im looking for a decent amp...20-30 watts, just for playing at home...maybe use it in a gig. I play blues, classic rock, rock and some grunge. I just want an idea what was your guy's step up from beginer amp? beginer amp as in like a little 6-8 inch speaker. If you have suggestions please do tell.
MY gear:
Ibanez Jetking II
Ibanez Acustic
Kustom lead III 2x12

I think so, Brain, but where would we buy rubber pants at this hour?

I have a crate xt65r and i love it, 65 watts, not too heavy, great solo channel and it was only like 250 with tax
#5
I agree with edwardthegreat, for a smaller sized amp in the 20-30watt range, Vox makes great amps
Bones, sinking like stones.
#6
look for a 20-30watt tube combo off ebay. you will get the best quality for your money.
#7
Lower-end crates and fenders are crap, if you do get a Fender, make sure it's all-tube.

they have a modeling pre amp, a 1 watt tube power amp, and then that signal is sent to the main SS power amp.

ok, vox valvetronix as three secions

secton 1:
modeling pre amp. this is the main and only pre amp. it's pretty much a computer with a bunch of modeling, FX, pre-sets, programable pre-sets, ect.

section 2:
a 1watt tube power amp, powered by a lone 12ax7 tube.

section 3:
the main solid state power amp. be it 15, 30, 50, 60, 100, 120 watts. this is the main driver section of the amp, that really powers the speakers. it's not a traditional SS power amp though, it's the pattened "valvetronix" power amp. it breaks up a lot later than tradditional SS power amps, and the break up isnt as harsh.

They're hybrid, but they are still probably the best on the market when it comes to SS amps.
