how the hell can ypu even compare these guys to MCR or any emo? these guys have awesome riffs from all positions in the band that i doubt any emo bands could do...the only thing i can see about this band that would be the least bit emo about them is their name...but still, these guys are awesome

Some good riffs. If they took out the vocals they'd be tolerable.

The lead singer is a bit emo-ish, but he's got a Welsh accent so that redeems him? I quite like them, but there is so much better out there.

Hand of Blood is sweet, but some of their other songs are weird, listen to some of their other stuff.
1: Everyone is a little emo...
2: No I'm not!
1: I can prove it, do you watch porn?
2: Yeah...
1: Well, do you like the guy w/ the little flimsy c*ck?
2: Nah, I like a big hard throbbing wet c*ck and...
1: See, eveyone is a little emo inside.

They're alright, not my favourite, but most bands arent. I do not class them as emo but give 'em a couple of years and they will be.

I dont see what is good about band who had to resort to emo tactics. That is why bands like black sabbath maiden and naplm death have much kudos from everyone they stuck to thier guns. best band from britain right now is dragonforce they are so wrong but so right.

can anyone not be emo anymore, is it even possible? jeez.

It's like, any new band around is emo. automatic classification, regardless of inspiration or whatever. As for BFMV - I don't like em that much, but please drop the pathetic emo bull****.
#23
So basically Emo is a new derogatory term against bands? Do you even know what Emo is?

Yes I do, it's a bull**** genre that you can throw just about any ****ing band you care to in with no good reason. Yes there is a slew of ****e bands that are deliberately trying to fit the "emo" mould, but calling bands that play rock music emo has become more trendy than the "emo" scene itself. Let it die.

Generally it is used as a derogatory term these days as you will clearly see from this forum if you had been a member for more than 3 and half minutes.

It's old and tired and I'm sure it's not just me that is sick of reading the word.

Dude, youre coming into a hardcore forum, bashing a hardcore/metalcore band, and using metal bands as one of your arguements? Thats quite idiotic. Sell your computer, become more intelligent, then come back to UG.

By the way, Bullet arent emo. They might have some lyrics that could be considered emo, but that doesnt make them emo or screamo or whatever. Theyre a fairly good metalcore band, in my opinion anyway. Since genre is at least mildly open to interpretation...

It's only a derogatory word if the person using it doesn't really know what it means.

On topic. Very average band.

Indeed, which is what happens an awful lot on this board and why I used the word "generally".

As has already been said, there are some emo influences in their lyrics, but their music is pretty distant from emo as far as Im concerned. In my opinion they are one of the best at what they do, which is writing riffs that make you want to go crazy.

I find I can connect with their music a lot more than other bands, and I think they have got the blend jus right on their latest album between the quiter moments and the heavier parts. When I listen to them I just admire the genius of the music they have written, which is some of the best in their respective genre in my opinion. I won't pretend they dont have emo influences, because they do, as do a lot of bands these days. But for me its not the lyrics that make the band so good, it is their music. I still think their best song is No Control off their EP, but The Poison is a very strong album all the way through. Looking forward to seeing them live again on the Kerrang tour.

Eh.. I'm gonna steer clear of the emo topic.

I like this band. I've got the videos for "Hand of Blood" and "Four Words To Choke Upon" downloaded. I love the harmonizations they do. Their riffs aren't anything too special, but I think they sound good.

They're a very typical hardcore band, though. The breakdown in "Four Words" matches too well for the hardcore genre.

I so wanna argue with you douchecakes about the emo thing, but I know that you all (that being the hardcore scene kids) are very close minded morons, scarcely open to anything new and are more than completely anti-emo...

I'm not remotely anti-emo, in fact I love the bands that get lumped into the genre (thursday, brand new, cursive etc etc)

I just really really despise the term and am so tired of it being used in a derogatory manner.

That's all

I couldnt agree more

I think BFMV is a pretty decent metalcore band. The lyrics are pretty bland, and the vocals are rather irritating. But other than that, the riffing is pretty sweet, and overall the band does well as a cohesive unit. They are enjoying quite a bit of success in the UK at the moment, and The Poison is set to come out in February in the states, which should give people a much better idea of these guys. But they are nothing special, just a decent band that's pretty fun to listen to. If you want to check these guys out, I'd recommend the songs "Hand of Blood", "Four Words (to Choke Upon)", "Tears Don't Fall", and "Her Voice Resides".
#35
suprisngly, ive grown to really like this band. i wouldnt call them hardcore or metalcore or whatever. id just call them rock or even 'heavy metal'. amazingly enough, just because you scream doesnt make you hardcore/metalcore. their really big over here in the UK and im presuming getting a bit of attention in the US, but they are overrated. they're also arrogant as ****.
rites of nothing.
#36
BFMV are good, I really like them. You have to listen to the right songs otherwise theres a high chance you'll get the wrong impression of them.

Hmm
Ignore the idiots who use it in such a way, maybe?
Simple, though it may not seem so.
Seriously, just dont bother with people who use it like that when describing bands. Hell, I love Brand New. They are Emo. But that doesn't make them bad. Not at all. They have excellent songs.

I think the derogatory definition of Emo comes from not knowing what Emo really is.
They see bands like MCR and The Used
Not Brand New, etc
