Either would be decent. They both beat the piss out of plywood or agathis.

Those Wilshires are some pretty kickass guitars in my opinion, I just think that they should give more color options.

As for the wood, like Spade said, I'm guessing the body is probably mahagony.

Damn it. Now I have to figure out how to pay for this, my '57 LP Jr. and my Elitist LP Custom...

Thanks for the info everyone. Also, do any of you know what case it might fit in? It has an unusual shape for an Epi...and it doesn't include a case.

Yeah, I found this guitar on music123 when I was shopping for a new axe and it's starting to interest me. However, there isn't much information out there about the reissues. Does anyone know much about the quality of the reissues? (how does it play, sound? Is it good quality for the price? etc.) thanks

i doubt epiphone would put out a solid mahogany for $249. its probably basswood or adler guys.

They just released the '57 LP Jr. which is a solid mahogany body with single piece mahogany set neck for $300...with a Gibson P-100 pickup in it...I don't see why they couldn't make another reissue guitar in the $250-$300 price range with mahogany as well.

also its not a thick as a les paul, or as long as a sg, its not that much wood,
I've played ventage Wilshires and there as thin as sgs,

I can see how they can sell it for $249

man.. now that I think about it, I really like wilshires,

Surprisingly, no. I don't go on Musician's Friend much other than to check prices on gear.

I absolutely love LP Jr.'s. I'm buying a '57 reissue in the next few weeks, so I had to look up info on it. I've also been looking at other Epiphones for a new humbucker guitar, so I know quite a lot about those too. Basically, I've looked up tons of info for different guitars that I'm looking to buy. I know quite a bit about Epiphones and Washburns because they're the two main brands of guitars I'm looking at.

I couldn't name a specific Ibanez for my life though.

And to Spade, it's definetly a cool guitar. And really, for $250 you can't go wrong. Even with new pups and tuners it will still be cheaper than a G-400.

ive never seen one in real life but ive read reviews and they basically said that it was a novelty but not suitable for ur main guitar

It is a decent beginners guitar, comparable to an SG in size and weight. If you move around much performance wise and pull on the neck at all, she will pull easily out of tune. I would definitely not recommend as a main guitar.
