Seriously.... I heard something about the electric current will fry your pickups... I tried it on mine after i saw this. I didn't touch the pickups, but my tremolo setup. So what's the deal?

I'm not sure about whether it would hurt your pickups or not, but I've read articles about when Tom plays like this... apparently there is a risk of getting shocked. So, I'd be careful if I were you about trying it out.

$250 for an amp? wow. is it worth it to invest that much in the amp?

How would you get shocked? The only risk I would see is damaging your amp.
