Indeed you can, just make sure you're clamped up good... personally, i would prefer a jigsaw, more freedom, just have to be more carefull... and make sure the blade is big/deep enough, some jigsaws won't make it through a thick body blank, that's the only real issue...

Go right ahead and use it, like the above poster said, make sure the woods clamped good. I also prefer a jigsaw to a bandsaw on most occasions.
