Whats your favorite acoustic song to play?

I dont want songs that are like Dust in the wind, to me those get kind of boring...

Also I want newer songs. From some of these bands maybe, 3 Days Grace, Seether, Taking Back Sunday. And similiar bands, not that they have to be new but im kind of bored of learning mostly Eric Clapton, Jack Johnson, DMB, and The Beatles.

as almost everyone has said before Hurt - Johnny Cash because it's such a good cover.

Redemption Song - Bob Marley because great tune by a great musician.

and lately I've been really addicted to Jesus Etc by Wilco. boy can that guy write some lyrics.
Nowadays all the songs on the radio, all drive me crazy.

ask_withnail & kartman.... how long did it take you guys to get ocean down pretty solid? i jsut started watching the videos and figuring it out a couple of days ago and it's comin along pretty nicely so far. do either of you have any videos or recordings of yourself covering this song? i've yet to hear anyone else play it.... not that it's crazy hard or anything, i just don't know anyone else that can play it. don't misunderstand me when i say it's not crazy hard... it is difficult... but it's not ridiculous or anything.

^^ Ill be interested in knowing that too.. Do you need a 12 string to play it?

^-- you don't HAVE to have a 12 string to play it, but it sounds alot better on a 12 string. tune your 6 string to CGCGCE... capo on 4... and let it rip

If this means anything im looking for songs that are new from newer bands. Ive learnt too much of The Beatles, Jack Johnson, DMB, and Eric Clapton. I would like to learn more of like seether and 3 Days Grace and bands similiar to that.

So please recomend bands that newer and similiar to the ones I mentioned.

No, I most definetely haven't got it down solid yet, but like you, I'm getting to grips with it. I've done a very sketchy recording of it on my dmusic page... which I recorded after 2 days of practicing the song.

The thing with open tuning is that you can mess around with it so much. You don't have to play Ocean like JB plays it, sure you use the same notes, but switch it up a bit, that's what I like to do.

I'm learning it on my 6 string, don't have a 12 string (yet) .. though it does sound immense on a 12.

you can never learn too much clapton...i seriously doubt you'll enjoy going from a great acoustic/electric guitarist to a one-album-wonder like three days grace...but if you must, just play power chords randomly around the fretboard and that should cover most of their songs..."Broken" by Seether sounds pretty cool on acoustic

it took you 15 consecutive hours of practice to realize that playing guitar makes you better at playing guitar. congratulations.

Also can someone tell me a nice acoustic song that is like country music. I like rascal flatts stuff sp is there any other acoustic country like rascal flatts you can tell me about since i dont listen to country lol i jsut enjoy playing it.
#39
Hey axe.......Ummm.... hate to tell you but 3 Days Grace isn't a one album wonder. Anyways, a great song by 3 days grace is Wake Up. Another thing you could try of whom is a one album wonder only becuase the band broke up is some Revis. Living Rooms is a wonderful song by them. I would say Broken by Seether and Savin' Me by Nickleback would be great for you to play also.

i would have to say the most fun song i can and do play is At The Bottom Of Everything By Bright Eyes, amazing lyrics which i love, easy chords too. its a song which you can dance around like a fool singing at the top of your lungs, feeling out of breathe but smiling from ear to ear after.
