1)I replace my active p/j pups with an active EMG P style pup and an active EMG MM style pup near the bridge

2)I replace my active p/j pups with an active EMG P style pup and two active EMG jass style pups near the bridge(like the warwick vamp)

3)I replace my active p/j pups with TWO active EMG P style pups; one near neck one near bridge

Well, your going to need to tell us a little more about your bass. For all we know, you could have a 3 string fretless bass with a plastic body!

It would really just be better to save up and get a nicer bass. Unlike guitar, pickups don't make that big of a difference on bass. It's all in the wood/neck.
