The string height on my guitar at the twelth fret is 2.5mm. Is that considered to be high, medium or low?

i'd call that medium myself...

i think most factories set their guitars to 3/32" at the 12th fret and that's just a tad bit lower than 2.5mm

EDIT: i don't play electric... but wouldn't 5mm be really frickin high for an electric? that's almost a quarter of an inch!

1st: 3/32'' is .09375''

how high is too high on an acoustic?

that's what i calculated it to be.... which is a tad bit lower than 2.5mm... which is what i said....

you'll find many guitarists with action as high as 5/32" at the 12th fret... mainly, but not limited to, bluegrass guitarists. to the average player, 1/8" would be considered too high.
