hey i was on a site that said jimi hendrix used a octaver pedal. i was just wondering what this is and what it sounds like or anything else that could be helpful.

Octave pedals usually make the notes you're playing one or more octaves lower or higher, but still playing the note you've played.

I think Hendrix used one called an Octavia, which creates another note an octave higher than the one you're playing, so that you hear both; check out the Purple Haze solo for an example of this sound.
