I just learned the Fade to Black solo's and something bothered me.
The notes are right but it doesn't sound the same. When he solo's the tone is like distorded but almost clean. It isnt clean cause the sound isn't the same.

How do I get the right tone? Do I have to use the neck pup? or is it a chorus effect?

Ibanez 442 RTR ( my second love)

The intro solo uses chorus and the neck pup. I think the outro solo just uses the neck pup, but no chorus. Could be mistaken on that last one, though.

my guitars neck pickup is a single coil. ( got an old Ibanez pre JS model)

I don't have alot of experience with single coils, so I'm not sure.

I'll say.
They were originally going make Claudio a part of Mount Rushmore, but the material was not tough enough to sculpt his hair out of.

"St. Anger" was done in Drop Z tuning, they were trying to "out heavy" Slipknot.
