i was thinking about getting on soon, and i was wandering are they a good brand of guitar or not? does it have as bad quality as a squire does? since squiare is an off market of fender, and epiphone is to gibson, is it alot of squire? do you think i should get one?
#2
it all depands on your price range, and music interests. give me those, and i can probably tell you.

and also, there is no comparison between epiphones and squiers. epiphone is a much better brand if you buy a middle or high end, which can cost around $700 for middle end, and around $900 or higher for a high end epi. i hope i helped at all.

well i have about 500 bucks to get a new amp and guitar, i was thinking about getting an epiphone for about 250, and a vox ADVT30 amp for about 250 was well, its a little bit cheaper than that, i think list price is 239

I don't think either Squire or Epiphone make BAD guitars... I've played BAD guitars and GOOD guitars. Both are nice as hell considering what you're paying for them.

My brother has a Squire and I quite like it. Me myself, I have two Epiphones (G400 and es335) and I love them. Such nice guitars for their price.
#10
I have an Epi Les Paul Standard and i think its great for the money........the pickups are decent but i am ordering a Gibson 57 Classic Plus Pickup right now to replace the bridge so it will basically be a Gibson!!!

In my experience Epiphones are far better guitars to play and in my opinion sound way better

from 200$ to 900$ or something. the high end ones rival the quality/tone of low end gibsons.
the high end epihones are great guitars.
#14
Btw i play my Epi threw a Vox AD30VT and its simply beautiful!!! they make a great couple

All American Rejects play 'em and they're an amazing band, so they can't be that bad. I don't own one though. I've got a fender acoustic and Washburn Lyon. both of which I highly reccomend.

^epis below the standard arent worth, most of them are made from plywood, or poor quality wood... standard(plus/plain top) is 400 on musicians friend, and it worth the extra cash, you can also find used epi standards for 280-300
#18
Epiphone's aren't bad at all. Most of them are very solid build quality and sound decent. The only issues I've had is that the high E string pops out of the nut occasionally, but I don't think all epi's are like that. Epi hollowbodies are great, and the Elitist series are better quality than some Gibsons.

The thing about epiphones is, a lot of them are almost identical, apart from the shape. Same wood, same neck, same pickups, same hardware, same sound.

No, high end Epiphones (Elitists) are the same as average Gibsons (Standards for example). They're made of the same materials and even have Gibson USA wiring and hardware. Low end Gibsons (LP Specials, melody makers) are crap. Maybe good for $200-$300, but not the $530-$850 they charge for them.

Topic creator, Epiphones are great guitars if you get a good one. For your price range I recommend that you look at the Vintage G-400 SG and the '57 Les Paul Junior Reissue. Both are excellent guitars. Good amp choice as well.

and your reasoning isn't good at all.

^Agreed. The All American Rejects are just another emo band that happens to know that Epiphone makes some nice guitars.

Buy one for like 600, get new tone pots and pickups for about 140, and you have a seriously mad guitar.

Agreed. But you really don't need to spend $600. You can get a Les Paul Standard Plain Top fo $400. Then, put $200 into it and you have an EXTREMELY nice guitar.

And yes. That USA-shaped Epiphone is extremely tacky.

Sounds like it. It still beats a new one for $600-$700, plus EMG's which run about $150 for a set...And a $60 hardcase. As long as it hasn't been through a woodchipper, it should be fine.

Epipihone Casinos are the best Archtop guitars you can buy, they make the best Jazzboxes in the world. As for they're LPs, well there second to Gibson but hey, Epipi's are AWESOME.

I agree on the Casino. That's one nice guitar. Plus, they're only like $500.

As for the LP's, their regular LP's are good, but second to Gibson's, but their Elitists are just as good as any non custom shop Gibson LP.

i think epiphone has tons of great guitars. personally i think a $600 Epiphone Les Paul Custom is better than a lot of more expensive guitars. my friend has one and its pretty sweet. my gibson sg standard is better, but it was double the price to. also the guy from thursday plays the exact one that my friend has.

Epi's are quite alright for the budget musician.

But if you're ever going to get a guitar in the 500+ range, you should definitely check out Schecter guitars. Best quality for that price range. Excellent guitars.
