Hi, by the end of this month I am going to have around £650 to spend on a guitar. I would consider myself as an intermediate player only ever owning a Vintage VS6 before this (and loving it). I am tempted with a telecaster but it doesn't have 24 frets or a whammy bar, both of which are not essential but I would like them. My only other option is to buy a Burns Brian May Red Special Replica as it does have both.

WHAT SHOULD I DO - Please post if you have any suggestions of what guitar I should buy!!!

If the whammy bar isn't essential, you cuold save up a little bit more and get an sg standard.

well go to a guitar shop and play some stuff and find what you like. see what guitars sound and feel good to you before you make a decision.

hey you know whats funny, my friend is in like the exact same situation as you. at the end of the summer hes goin to buy a telecaster for 650

Smooth, I do really like telecasters I was just looking and I found a telecaster with a bigsby attatchment which could be cool. Oh, and I have looked at SG standards but I'm after something a little different, the Vintage I've got is an SG copy

American Stratocasters, particulary the Deluxes, or HSS's if you need a bucker are always good. only 22 frets, but I like them more than Tele's because telecaster neck pickups are so weak and lame, nothing but a pure clean rhythm pickup. Plus tonaly (if that's a word) strats are more diverse, especially with a Duncan in the bridge. 650 will cover an American Deluxe HSS, just about. they have nice tremolos and sound really good with the Noiseless pickups.
Yeah Dimebag is not the "Greatest Guitarist" of all time... Hendrix maybe... I must go get food to eat with my mouth

$250 for an amp? wow. is it worth it to invest that much in the amp?

I have a Vintage VS6 - Much better than the Epi G-400

They're pretty different instruments, it really comes down to what you're trying to play

Hey I'm not saying I don't like the Vintage, I'm using at the moment -its a great instrument but I have money and wanna spend it lol. Cheers for the Epiphone option about 2 check that out - I play anything really, Muse stuff mainly, a lot of metal and some indie! Its really varied!

Try a Manson?!?!?!? He has a custom built one, I have enquired lol but they never got back to me Anywho, I do really want 24 frets or a whammy bar or both, does anyone know of any guitars that cost up to £650 ($1200) that has at least one of these!?!?

Get a Flying V, or better yet a Jackson.

Also yes his Manson is custom made but you can still buy regular Mansons off the shelf, it may not perform aswell as hsi but hey, its the closet your gonna get. There the best candidate for the stuff you want to play.
