Hi. Im looking for a guitar in my budget (anything less than 600 $) and was looking at a Schecter 006 Blackjack (nice pickups). I want a guitar that can handle heavy distortion and shred but still sound smooth on clean. Any comments about the Schecter or any suggestions for other guitars would be extremely helpful. thanks

Id say go for the schecter, theyre great guitars.

I myself have a HotRod '39 with Alnico V Pups, it sings and the neck is faster than my Epi.

$650 will get you an LTD MH-400.
Otherwise... Schecter C-1 guitars are great, as are non-LP Epiphones (look at the G400, Flying V and Explorer)

Eh... Jackson MG series are good too.
