So this is my guitar i painted it black awhile back. The guy that had it before me butchered it "he even used a belt sander and some kinda crappy car paint"....Anyway its flat black now after some wirk and deceant i want to paint something Lime green over the top of it. i cant draw that good so i was wanting to find something on the net and cut it out and use the piece of paper liek a stencil...anyway i thought of like a biohazard pic or something tribal im looking for ideas. thnx...send in pics i spose?

You know you're a bassist when you think a guitar is just some freaky type of short scale, six string bass.

I think someone on UG did a biohazard guitar. It was black, with an acid-green biohazard sign and fake binding around the edge. I'll find a pic....

EDIT: here you go. Slashnmash did it, and I think he did a great job! I hope he doesn't mind if I use his pic...

You could make a big green stencil of this, and put it so this top is at the bridge.

It's better with no teeth, trust me. Much fewer scars on my penis now that I've switched from seniors in high school to senior citizens.

Slashnmash Had done an Ibanez RG With the A GIANT Acid Green Biohazard symbol, hes getting it professionally laquered right now, his isnt done, what guitar is that, 1 pup, and 1 Pot on a strat body?

umm, i say you can sand down to the grain then route for another humbucker, and then use a drillpress and drill out a hole for another pot or two (volume and tone or just tone), then drill for a Selector Switch, then repaint with Tribal designs going all over the back and front

Im dont know a whole lot about the guitar bsides its a 80's strat i have it for 2 years yep one humbucker and one volume control..and the cord is in the side of the body "which i like" i paid 100.00 for it. the serial is A042353 ..i wouldent mind having another humbucker or single coil..i have plenty of tools to do it...i just lack funds...anyone wanna donate some pickups and controls? hehe ..what would the benefiet be from another pickup in the neck position?..ive never had a guitar with a tone control either dunno exactly what all this would do for me but ive thought about doing it....lol my thread is getting off track owell lol

if you can rig your camera to take a perfectly downward shot of your guitar so everything is perfectly even... yes I can make a sort of stencil. It will be just various tribal patterns that you can print out, and your shot of the guitar as a guide. The patterns wont be to size though... you will have to redraw them on paper to use as a stencil, or for masking tape.

EDIT: it would also help if you took it apart of course lol, it will be tricky trying to get around the bridge and pickups. Also, it would be better to mask off your guitar then cut the shapes out. If you want it to look nice I would do it something like:

Take it apart, drill new holes for pickups and knobs... (if your not doing that then)
ruff up the entire body with heavy grit sandpaper, spray a couple coats of primer (light colored) then spray the green a couple coats. Then lay out the masking tape and cut out the design. Then spray black a couple coats. Let dry. lightly cut around the masking tape. Peel it.. have a nice tribal pattern... Clear coat. rubbing compound.. buff tell shine

yeah that would be awesome having it come up from the sides and such... and as for the pup at the neck, thats why i put that little design imbetween the other pup, and if he put one at the neck .. i think if it was done right, it would look pretty snazzy

Ok yall are so amazingly helpfull...im trying to decide to jsut take good pics and let MercD (your awesome) or someone gimme some designs and do it on the weekend...or wait till i get money for more pickups and controls...(will have to do a little looking and learning ...im pretty deceant with electronics..do yall think its worth it routing for and extra pickup? what will a humbucker up front do for me? and might aswell buy matching pickups right? pull off and hammer ons arent real responsive kinda quiet but maye jsut my amp or settings( or just bridge humbucker only?) what kinda prices are we talking? Any suggested pickups/parts? Then again the body is in very very bad shape..i dont know if it would be worth it? what do yall think about my guitar is it a piece of crap? i paid 100 bux for it and i think thats about what its worth the guy that had it before me thinks its worth more but im doubting it.

well, im not too great on pickups im still learning myself. But the benefit of having multiple pickups is behing able to have different sounds. I.e front pickup can be a nice humbucker that has more of a jazzy clean feal (if you want) and the back pickup can have a good metal crunch to it. with 2 tone knobs you can adjust between the 2. When it comes to what kind, I will leave that to somebody with more experience in that area.

oh and as for design, np man. Here are the tribal patterns I used. You can very easily make up your own design from them.

If you want me to help you on the back, just get me a nice straight shot of the back and I can try my best on that side too...

oh and if you can get be a straighter shot of the front I can make the pattern more even for you if you want.

completely up to you dude.

here are the patterns and the other mockup... (I put the extra pickup and knobs on there to show you.)

and what program are you using to where you can barely/fine'ly rotate stuff not just 90degrees at a time? thats cool ive never seen one liek that.
#22
that would be Adobe Photoshop (the best)

I will get crackin on it. But like I said all you will really be able to do is just use the photo as reference, you can print out the tribal patterns but you will still have to draw them larger/smaller your self cant do everything for ya

couldnt really think of much for the back, wasnt much room. Maybe you can come up with a cool design. But yeah use em if ya like.. toss em if ya dont or of course add to / take away from them when you go to paint it.

I have the stuff on the back hanging over to show that they go up the sides.. you can see on the front were they end up... sorta

Have fun man
