I'm looking for a really good classic rock sounding amp. Anybody know where to get a deal on one of these Marshalls? Are there any other amps with a similar sound?

Hmm, are you talking about a JTM45 head, or a Marshall Bluesbreaker (same, but combo)?

And you'll find them cheaper than usual on eBay.

Exactly how much drive can you get out of those amps with a good set of buckers?

They won't do metal as far as I'm concerned, but they'll be able to touch into the hard rock area with a set of hot pups and a nice OD.

You could build a JTM45 from a Weber kit for $500.

I heard so.

Keep in mind they are EXTREMELY loud amps. I had a Plexi and sold it because it was too loud (and I tried attenuators and THD Yellow Jackets). So if you want those sounds check out the Marshall 18 watter, it's basically an 18 watt JTM-45:

^Yeap.

The 18 watters are quite loud. An 18 watter is a better bet. It will be loud enough for anything.

you think?
im leaning towards 36 just because yesterday at band practice i had my 50 watt tube combo (212) on the clean channel (i wanted cleans not od for this part) and i was getting some distortion
i didnt mind becuase it gave it a little edge but it seems that 18 watts would have NO headroom and that 36 would have a little
EDIT: o and the 36 kit has a half power swtich

ya if i make an amp its gonna be a ceriatone 36w tmb
edit: do you think that a 36 watt tmb as a 112 combo would be loud enough to gig with decent headroom?>
