Alright everyone, some of you who have been here for a long time may remember a weekly occurance that we liked the call the AOTW (Album of the week). It was shut down almost a year ago this week and it's time to bring it back.

The purpose of having an Album of the Week is to educate fellow UGers on favorite CDs of yours and helping them explore differant kinds of music they normally would not listen to. The author would normally write out a brief history of the album such as when it was produced and who it was produced by and maybe some background info on the album. Usually a track listing with commentary on each song would be included as well.

The main reason why this project was shut down the last time was because of the overwhelming amount of people who would sign up to write an article and then leave the site or completely forget about it and not send one in. After weeks of being on life support by generous people who wrote articles at the last second, it was shut down. This will not happen this time. This time around there is going to be a strict set of rules and believe me they will be enforced. There will no longer be a (as much as) four month period between the time you sign up and your assigned date. I will only be accepting applications maybe a month in advance to prevent huge lineups which result in people leaving.

We're going to try to relate this to the UG Classic Rock Book thread that is run by Floyd93, so check out the link at the bottom of the page if you want to help out in that area as well (we still need a good site maker )

Articles will be posted every Sunday night and (hopefully) stickied by Jono. If it is your turn to submit an article, please send it in prior to the last minute... preferably on Saturday or before.

ONLY SIGN UP IF YOU PLAN ON ACTUALLY WRITING THE ARTICLE. I will be accepting applications for the Month of July. The dates are as follows:

Sunday, July 1st: Floyd93 (Blue Oyster Cult- Agents of Fortune)
Sunday, July 8th: fronkpies (Led Zepellin- Led Zepellin |||)
Sunday, July 16th: BlueOyster23 (On Your Feet or on Your Knees- Blue Oyster Cult)

I've got a revised edition of my old Revolver review saved on my computer.

Can it be put up as an "preview AOTW" just to get it up-and-running quicker? If not, I want to be down for July 1st.

Also, wilty, when somebody sends in an article, you should ask them if they are alright with it being on the project site. Don't ask before they send it in because they might be unsatisfied with it and say they don't want it on there.

It's way too sunny and warm here today to listen to black metal, I shall bookmark it and come back when the weather is worse.

My bad. I'm a little spaced out from wasting three hours watching 'Die Another Day'. It would've been a lot less painful without the commercials.

July 8th, then?

Here's the deal... I am trying to earn money through various gigging functions, and am getting ready for college, so I'm not sure about my schedule. Therefore I will not ask for a date.

If by the grace of God I get an article done, I will send you (wilty00) a copy, as long as its good then I'll just request the next available date. That way I won't take away spots from deserving people who actually write articles

By the way, if I get around to it, I will probably be writing about Genesis or Jeff Beck. Beck is looking kinda good at the moment.

I'll tell you what.

Write the article if you want, and we can keep it as an emergency incase some idiot doesn't turn in their article. If you want to submit it as a dated article to make sure it gets used (when you have time) that can be done as well, just let me know by PM and I'll give you a date to post it.

Hey, I could write an article. Just tell me if you need me.

I wouldn't need you if this thread wasn't here

Just tell me what band and album you're doing and I'll give you a date (or you can request one).

I never contributed to the old AOTW, so I think this time I'll write an article. Something Pink Floyd...how about Animals?

EDIT: does it matter that Animals was in the last AOTW thread?

How would you feel about Marquee Moon, by Television? Great album, and I don't think it's very well known either. If it works, sign me up for whatever date's convenient.

Alright heres what I'm going to do... this month is filled up so the people who requested a spot have been put on a waiting list in order of request time. When an article is crossed off the list, the day after I will PM the first person on the waiting list to check and see if their account is still active. If I don't get a response within a week then the next active member will be put on the list.

Damn didn't see your post... do something other than Animals and I'll squeeze you in there

Same to you Floyd.. I'd prefer if we get albums that haven't been done before and stuff that isn't blatantly obvious and everyone doesn't already have.

Edit: Whoa.. you did Revolver last time we had the AOTWs. Change it up, bud

^^well, I can't get my external hard drive to work, so most of my live stuff is gone. I still have some of it left from CD trades I've made by mail, and a few lossless shows I've downloaded, but most of it is gone. Thankfully, I have all of my studio stuff, I put it all on my mp3 player, so I just have to transfer it onto my computer. And yes, I do want Idlewild South

aaaand, since I'm bored as all hell, I'm gonna start my Rocks article now

Sunday, July 1st: Floyd93 (Pink Floyd- Revovler)

Do you notice anything odd about that, wilty? haha

Oh and the only reason I picked Revolver again is because I changed it DRASTICALLY from the 1st one. I'll have to think of another album to do since I've already done Revolver. You can go ahead and take me off the list for now.

Also, the way you run this makes me feel horrible about how the Classic Rock Bio Project is run. You OWN me at this stuff.
