So first of all I apologise for the Enter Sandman cover... my mate challenged me to record it... and I'm always up fo challenges. But then I also decided to record One just for fun. And as for The Shortest Straw... I entered that into the Metallica competition thread. All drums are done by the comp... I played everything else however, and made up my own bass lines.

One:

Intro is a lil bit sped up.
Solos pretty good, u messed up the sweeping part though.
Awesome tone, i love it.
Rest of the parts are good, sounding great.
The second solo, you messed up a few parts (timing mostly). Loved the pinch harmonic. You could have used a more vibrato though. Awww whyd you skip the tapping part and replace it with that chromatic run Still, pretty good.

The download cut off after that, must be having internet trouble.

For the most part, pretty damn good. 9/10

Crit mine please?

Ok ill have to be pickey here because its so good:
Enter sandman:
Sounds like you missed a bar before the intro kicked in at around :49 - 52 seconds
Around 2:19 that part should of been clean i think
Solo sounds awsome with no noticable bad parts.
Tone is great.
Good cover 9/10

One:
I agree the intro is slighty fast and theres a slight mess up at the beginning. Clean part sounds great just with a few quite unnoitceable mess ups.
Heavy part is good nice tone, but im not a fan of the vocal tone.
Love the double time section, solo could do with a wee bit more work just to get it perfect. A wider vibrato would be great too. Again excellent 9/10

Sadley im not to familar with TSS so i cant really compare.

Was that recorded with a Pod XT live?
Would you recomend one?

Could you crit mine too please?

Thanks for comments guys, yep that sure was a pod xt live, my new baby haha. I would highly recommend one, even with the steep (sp?) price... I honestly say it's the ebst investment I've made... I bought mine last thursday... and I haven't stopped using it. Good thing is, when we jam now we just use the electric drum kit and listen with headphones... sounds beautiful. The timing problem in Sandman is jsut me layering the guitars like they do live before the main riff comes in. In One, I know mucked up a bend in particular... but I thought the rest of the run was too good to scrap lol I've also changed my lead tone since those recordings... and I just need to fix up the clean tone a tad. Well... that's enough babble from me

Sandman:

Was this done in a different tuning? Anyways, all the playing sounded great. I love the heavy tone. Solo was pretty good. Overall, I loved it. Very good cover.

One:

Yeah, into sounds a little rushed. The lead could be just a tad smoother. When the distortion kicks in, if it was a little louder, it would have made the part. I like the first distorted solo. All the rest sounds awesome man. Another good one.

Shortest Straw:

Well, I won't crit this one too much since I'll be judging it in the contest. I liked the effect the D tuning added though. Sounds pretty good. Good luck man

EDIT: Where'd you get the backing tracks for these?

thanks man, yep, all the songs were done in D standard... One was played 4bpm faster than the original the whole way through looking forward to the cover contest hehe

your covers are crazy good, but sometimes i can tell your timing is a little off, but no big deal. good luck in the contest.

Yeah I could tell it was a little faster. Definately sounded cooler though. I loved it, good job man. Best cover of Shortest Straw I've seen.

Thin necks make you play faster because guitars with thin necks sound thin and bad, and you play fast to distract people from the bad tone.
