Ok so im playing the intro solo to sanitarium by metallica and I just got a couple of questions.

First what is a triad? In the song it sounds like it is just a fretted string and a quick hammer on and hammer off to the next fret on the same string. In this case on the B string Playing the 12th freth, and hammering onto the 13th and then pulling back off to the 12th really quick. But im not sure.

and what does "b" in tab mean? something like 2b3? Does that mean you just bend it until it sounds like your playing the 3rd fret? thanks!

What is a triad?

Triads are the basic building blocks of chords. A triad is a group of 3 notes and determines the basic sound of a chord.

triads are groups of 3 notes which make up chords. the b in tab is exactly what you think it is. it is a bend, and a 2b3 would mean you bend the 2 until it sounds like 3, sometimes it will read like this- 2fb or 2hb. the fb is a full bend, which would be a 2 bended to sound like 4, and the hb is a half bend, where you bend the 2 to sound like 3

By your definition, it sounds like you have "triad" confused with "trill." A triad is a group of 3 notes that make up a chord. A trill, on the other hand, is a quick hammer on/pull off to another note, usually repeated.
