After sort of falling in love with playing upright bass, I wanted to give one of my electric basses something that was upright-ish. I decided I would stain my pickguard and paint an f-hole on it.

the bass I'm going to torture
(heh, my five string is too pretty to torture)

I was thinking there is a chance if I removed that mask off of there (which will be quite easy) that an f-hole would look pretty neat. Or it might not (any opinons?). So I was wondering if anyone had an f-hole stencil or template. Something I could kind of customize, so that it would be reconizable for what it was but also be personal.

Also, any ideas on what paint is good for use on pickguards?

Thanks in advance for any help!

You bass already has a g-string painting a F-hole would double the amount of crappy cheesy and immature jokes people could make

For that reason is say DO IT

ARGH IT'S CALLED A ****ING DOUBLE BASS YOU IDIOT!!!

To do the stencil, just draw and cut out an f-hole shape on paper, stick it down with masking tape and just spray.

btw I'm also learning the double bass.

There's a difference.

An EUB is and upright bass.
And you can buy acoustic basses buit upright.
BUT: a Double Bass is NOT a Bass. The word bass is used to refer to a bass guitar. Not a designed-to-be-bowed strung upright instrument. Ever.
What would you call a Chello in this situation?

the word bass is a word to describe the lower frequencies. an instrument that produces these low frequencies is generally called a bass 'instrument name'.

and i'd call a chello, a cello
