Ok im not a bass player but i do dable, i have a bass rig, because my dad played,(hobbyist)and i needed a rig because my band's bass player couldnt afford a decnt rig so we pu this together

2X15 Bagend Cab (high end cab if you dont know it its said to be as good as aguilar and eden etc...

The 15's are JBL E-1408's the cab is 400 watts 8ohm

I didit have alot of money to spend so i decided on a behringer BX300 head which was enough power to push the cab and had a built in fan and was REALLY cheap, in my opinion it sounds amazing, very ide range of sound capapbilities/ i also a/b'ed it to a GK (gallien Kruger) 300 watt headand it sounded better, more full, w/ more eq sweep, plus a 5 band not a 3 band eq on the GK

Just wondering from all you bass players what you would rate my rig at??

Btw my bass player playes a BC rich warlock bass...it sounds decent... but not punchy enough any sugestions on a bass?? i was thinkin P bass or a gibby thunderbird? (rock and heavy rock)

Is that one of those Bag Ends that can produce very low frequencies?
Computer programmers are loopy.
- That's one of my own!
#4
yes tis!!! its sweet, with the ultrbass setting on the amp, it octaves the note, and with the speakers being capable of producing an octave down even in drop D....its sweet.... the cab doesnt reall matter its the speakers, stock bagends have emminence speakers i think..jbls sounded better.. and the deep red series speakers glow red...awesome

Ultrabass is by far the worst effect ever.

Other than the head, cool set up. What GK did you try out???

I didnt say i liked it, it just sounded cool and the pseakers can handle the super low frequencies....thats all, it doesnt get uses much because it trips the amnps oerdraw breaker at high volumes.. th GK was a ackline 300 or something it sounded thin and really muddy

Head sucks and bass depends on what music you play, but not a Thunderbird. They suck ass.

Maybe a P or a J for a bass.

The cabs rule.

The head FUCKING SUCKS. Good luck to you when it breaks down.

Good luck.

2x15? bit pointless really? you'd get the full power from the head but you'd get nothing special sounding from two 15" speakers. not to say it can't/hasn't been done

^ heh heh, off with a bad back at the moment. Done it while doing stretching in Aikido. Ouch. One good thing is though i can play my bass all day for a few days. albeit sitting down. I'll be studying that thing i sent you. it's really good, great practice exercises for learning theory. we'll be masters before you know it

How do you know, have you owned tried one?
The 2x15 is one of the most powerful cab configurations out there especialy with an added horn, I use various combinations of cabs, on large venues I use a full range 15+horn plus another 15 with a low pass filter (cut off above 180hz).
What you must appreciate is that the response from the speaker is governed by the physical makeup of the speaker and not just by the diametre, stick an alluminium centre dust cover on a 15 and you extend its upper frequency response enormouly.
I've attched a rather crude old pic of my 70s setup, consisting of an H&H 2x15, Orange Graphic 120 and my trusty old 1965 Fender Jazz Bass, this was one of my setups ever.

apologies john! i was just saying that usually we have 4x10 or 2x12 so you cover the mid highs, and a 1x15 for the lows. i just thought 2x15 would just be all bass. then again, i haven't tried it.

^I always play through a 215. Sometimes at shows I borrow a friends 810, but I don't like it much. The 10s don't carry my B string very well.
#19
Ok so a crap head i understand but the cabs are awesome...and a 2X15 is an awesome bass cab, next up as to my lame typing..i was probably very intoxicated...

u guys seriously hav such a horrid behringer bias. he tested out 2 heads, a GK and a behringer, and the behringer was better. why dont u guys give it a break?

i think that rig is awesome. u'd probably want a bass that would compliment the 15's. mabe something with soap bar jazz pickups. then again a p-bass or anything with a humbucker would work better for the genre's.
