ok, I know digitech isnt the best, but its all i have right now (borrowed froma friend) and i cant get a good screaming tone...I was just wondering how some guitarist get that note that just stings your ear (around 3khz for nerds)...what is a good effect(s) to get to reach that?

^ Uhh, practice and skill....

You dont need effects to get a nice screaching squeal.... Just some hot fingers...

Well im a bit of a nerd and look on a dsp specturm of where the general lead guitar is (usually between 1.5-3khz-most sensitive to human ears), and the closes i can come is like 800hz, so i just need an effect to boost it...or a new guitar...?

Right now its an agile guitar w/ a digitech RP200 or something like that, and going direct to my soundcard (also could be the problem?)

Its not thatman... its technique, trust me..

Practice bending 2 full steps, then onto 3, etc etc...

As your doing them , practice your vibrato.... Everything comes into play, your rig is the least of it...

i know its not my playing, because even powerchords in a lot of metal songs will be in the same range... and theres generally not a lot going on in those power chords

yes, it's MAINLY your playing.....but gear also affects it.
With my ****ty 20W (it says 20, but im not sure it has that much) everything sound like crap, once I went to a studio (waste of money) and in my ****ty guitar everything SOARED!, of course I was playing with an overdriven fender tube amp, and it all sounded 943857984 times better.

Ibanez SoundGear SR300DX Bass

im not sure if you checked out my "first solo" under my dmuisc page, but it was one of the first that i tried and recorded (First take) but i want to kick the highs up higher, not a matter of bending a note higher, just the overall tone up a bit...

100 bucks? dang...

You know, my zoom has pretty good effects, you should check out Zoom 9002 off of ebay, if u can set them up right you can get a pretty close to shred tone. For example, mind sounds alot like steve vai right about now.
