Is there anything you wish you had known when you began playing? Is there anything you wish you had practiced earlier or a book of tabs you had found as a beginner?

No, I was pretty much sorted from the beginning actually. Luck, I suppose.
Feel free to ignore my ranting.

A recent study shows that 8% of teenagers listen to nothing but music with guitars in it. Put this in your sig if you're one of the 92% who isn't a close-minded moron.

Haha. Good one.

Back to the original question:

Yeah. After 30 years of playing, this one's easy. I wish I knew HOW to practice.
It is the the number one thing that will help you become a better player and
it's a SKILL you need to learn. You may not think so, but it is. When I finally
figured it out, I never stopped making progress. And I'm still learning how to
practice better.

perfect practice=perfect progress too bad when i started i didn't know what or how to practice...it's best to get on track as early as possible...thank you metronome

it took you 15 consecutive hours of practice to realize that playing guitar makes you better at playing guitar. congratulations.

I wish I'd learned to finger pick earlier.

I still haven't learned to do more than strum badly with an actual pick. I need to learn that sometime.

Learn both picking and finger picking. Seriously.

I wish I became smoother with downstrokes AND upstrokes earlier
Wait, I'm still not very smooth with downstrokes
Just learn alternate picking!! And be comfortable with up or down individually
