Unexpectedly at work they handed me a nice big fat bonus check.
In keeping with the spirit of this forum, you guys tell me how to spend it.

I have to pick up one of my guitars from a store today (it needed a truss rod
tweak I couldn't do myself), maybe they'll have something of interest if I look
around. Maybe not.

Let's say the budget is around $5000. What to do?

greedy!! lol 11 guitars and you want more
My Gear:

Schecter Hellraiser C-1 FR (EMG 85/81)
Mesa Boogie Stiletto Deuce
LOPO Custom 2x12 (Celestion V30s)

Buy 25 of these and smash them in big, open places with lots of people to watch. I guarantee it'll be the best $5000 ever spent.

$5,000? I'd buy a crap load of bodies, necks, and such from Warmoth and build myself 4 or 5 new guitars. But seriously, if you're that indecisive, I have a P.O. Box...

Plenty of guitars already.

Possibly look into rack effects? I'd imagine you'd be interested... IF you are let me know, and i could hook you up with plenty of links etc...

With that kind of cash, you could have a complete rack just for you......

Well, with $5,000, realistically, I'd get either an American Tele or Rickenbacker 330/360, a Mesa/Boogie Lone Star, an AB-Y switch, an mp3 player, and some sweet accessories for my Jeep -- 2" lift, 32x10.5 tires, new rims, rock crusher bumper, Warn winch...

My brother-in-law mentioned to me the TC electronics stuff is supposed to be
great. I was looking at the G-Force. I dunno.
#19
^ Yeh I guess TC is pretty good.

Yeh the G-Force is top quality, but i would take a Lexicom PCM-81 over it.

a Mesa/Boogie Lone Star.

Well Dirk Gently, this particular place I'm heading today had a Mesa Boogie
Lone Star Special in a custom gloss maple cab that has been plaguing my mind
since I saw it. I am definitely going to give it a whirl if they still have it.

I played one while I was in law school. I almost went home, grabbed my Mark IV and traded it. The cleans were...remarkable. I generally don't like Strats, but it made the '57 reissue I was playing through it sound orgasmic. I eventually want to do an A/B rig with my Mark IV and a Lone Star, maybe even the Lone Star halfstack *melts*

To be honest, I don't really like an effects-heavy sound most of the time. But,
neither of my heads has builtin reverb. So I've been considering something
with a nice verb to put into my fx loop on the THD. But while I was sticking
something there, it's be nice if it had other capabilities.

Okay, well then the PCM-81 would be nice.. Quality effects. Little bit of reverb and delay, plus a whole lot of other stuff you dont have to use.

THe harmonizer can change your octaves etc... It really maximizes your tone and makes the note as harmonized and clear as possible.

In this case you get what you pay for.

Maybe get some effects? Since you have 3 gibsons and 3 fenders, maybe put some money in modding of of each?

Maybe get one of the high-end PRS guitars.
#35
Why not invest in a vintage guitar, you can get vintage tele/strat for $5000, maybe not a 52 or something but still pre CBS. Invest in the future my friend!

I'm pretty sure if you catch a person trying to mod a Gibson Super 400 or L5S,
it's perfectly legal to shoot them on the spot. It's also the only exception to the
no torture law. In fact, torture is the recommended approach.

I just looked at your gear, I thought you had SG's or LP's. Anyways, maybe try to build a guitar? You have a high budget, so maybe buy all high quality parts, and build a dream guitar.

the thing is, u already have all ur ideal guitars. so get a mex strat and pimp it out. paint ur face on it or something.

and dont read into my posts, air guitar.^ im a compulsive wink-er.

Invest like Fronk said! Get a mojo filled pre CBS Strat or Tele, and it'll probably just rise in value.
