Okay so the pickup has a vintage braid, I guess only one wire inside of it

do i strip the braid off and solder the cloth covered wire? or do i solder the entire braid?

and second, i have a 5 way connector, a volume, and a tone

i just want to wire this to volume, the selector switch and tone pots are pretty much useless

what do i do?

do you guys need a picture? i need help here bad

the braid is the ground, the cloth covered wire is your hot. solder the braid to the back of a pot, and then connect that to ground. hot is wired normally.

There is no special wiring if you only want to use a volume pot. Just run the hot and ground to the volume pot, then hot and ground from the volume pot to the input jack. You're simply removing everything else from the circuit.
