Johnny Ramone 16 wtf! that and pretty much everything else(number 1 was good but really how can you go wrong with jimi)
#2
The thing about lists, is that people vote on them, or its 1 person's opinion.

Either way, most people arnt going to pick the "best" guitar players technically speaking.

Majority of the people who vote on/ make those lists, are musicians, and an even smaller number play guitar.

Whatever list you are looking at is biased.

Jimi was good, but he cant be the best.
BOLD.

Greatest guitarist ever? That's impossible to measure. Music isn't like sports, where if you're really good, you're almost garenteed to go pro. Music is based on people's opinion of you, and if they don't like you, or don't care for what you play, you won't be successful.

There are thousands of guitarists out there that were 10 times better than anyone on that list, but they never made it and no one has ever heard of them.

Those lists are bull****.
#9
Sorry for the double post, but if there's no Lynyrd Skynyrd band member on that list, then I will cry.

Nope. The only two reasons that people that are one of the best at their sport don't go pro is:
1. Bad grades (and it's not as common as you might think)
2. They get injured.

Other than that, they will definatly go pro.

joe satriani, dimebag darell, jeff lynne, chris degarmo, mike cambell, this list is garbage, burn it and send it to hell!

The reason why many lists dont work out is because there will ALWAYS be people who disagree with it.

i agree with most of what youre saying but theres lots of times that hasn't happend

Well that's the player's fault then. I think it's safe to say that the vast mojority of player who deserve to become pros, become pros.

But my point is, if you are a really awesome guitar player, that doesn't really count for much. My dad is the best guitar player I have ever seen. He is a computer tech man. If he was the best basketball player I have ever seen, he would be on TV.

we're just going to have too agree to disagree because i think not everything is in your dad or other peoples control you have to take into take into account other things

ps but yeah id say it is more likely in music that you could be great and never make it ie differing tastes

replace 'greatest' with 'the favourite guitar players of the people who read our magazine'

If a different magazine was doing it (say for example, kerrang) then the list would be completly different, say with Billie Joe Armstrong, A7X and Trvium being high up on there

Who gives a ****?

there are no guitarists from emo bands on that list.

believe it or not, emo isnt a catch all insult for anything you dont like.

anyway, greatest guitarist lists always suck because its a subjective issue.

EDIT: "82 David Gilmour of Pink Floyd " - That one takes the piss. Gilmour 82nd? Have they ever actually listened to him play guitar? He's ever so slightly better than 99% of the other "great" players on that list.
