This song is a parody of the clasic "Somewhere, Over the Rainbow" from the Wizard of Oz. It's not a hilarious spin-off (i.e. the works of Weird Al), but a contrast to the subject content in the original. Where as Judy Garland sang of a magical place where the impossible could happen and dreams were realized, this song talks about a place where gloom resides. It's best to play along with it on acoustic guitar to get that ultra sappyness.

If you want to know how to sing it, I suggest watching the first 20 mins. of the Wizard of Oz... it sings the same, just a few notes lower and with more somberness in the voice.

(let the end of this measure drag on longer than the first)
"But while you delight in your mind"
"Upon a place where time has no destination,"

(DRAMATIC PAUSE... about half the last played measure)

(All chords played in equal length of time, with a basic 123 strum)
(chorus)
G D Em G
"Somewhere, under the shadow, I decay."

C G D G
"Lovers will love ever on while my heart will waste away."

(verse 1)
Em C D D
"Although the sun shines overhead, I'm lost within the shaded dread surrounding."

Em C
"My sorrow stands before the light, withdrawing me from all that might be

astounding."

(chorus)
G D Em G
"Somewhere, under the shadow, frailties grow

C G D G
"No ambitions remain, just pain, tragedy, and woe."

(MUSICAL INTERLUDE WITH GUITAR SOLO!!!)
This sounds really good if you add a second guitar. The first guitar should continue struming the chorus ("Somewhere...") while the next guitar does this:

----3---2-----0-2--3-------0------------
------------3---------------------3-------
0-----------------------0-----------------
-------------------------------------------

(verse 2)
Em C D D
"So isolated here, I lie without a hopeful soul to call my friend."

Em C
"All fire that burned in the air was doused. Now, I've become aware that"

D(strum just once and let ring until after you sing "end" then come back in with D)
"this is the end."

(chorus)
G D Em G
"Somewhere, under the shadow, black as night,"

C G D G(strum really aggresively at the end)
"All colors lose their hue and fade ever out of sight."

(chorus)
G D Em G
"Somewhere, under the shadow, I decay."

C G D G(end strumming after 6 beats)
"Lovers will love ever on while my heart will fade away."

(Outro)
---------------------------0---0---2---3

------------------------------------------

"The sun will die, and so shall I fall from the sky. Goodbye."

You can end it right there, but someimtes I feel like playing the chorus once more.

Lyrics w/o music:

You've heard of a place far beyond
Where dreams ignite in joyous contemplation,
But while you delight in your mind
Upon a place where time has no destination,

Somewhere, under the shadow, I decay.
Lovers will love ever on while my heart will waste away.

Although the sun shines overhead,
I'm lost within the shaded dread, surrrounding.
My sorrow stand before the light
Withdrawing me from all that might be astounding.

Somewhere under the shadow, frailties grow.
No ambtions remain, just pain, tragedy, and woe.

So isolated, here I lie
Without a hopeful soul to call my friend.
All fire that burned in the air
Was doused. Now I've become aware that this is the end.

Somewhere, under the shadow, black as night,
All colors lose their hue and fade ever out of sight.

Somewhere, under the shadow, I decay.
Lovers will love ever on while my heart will waste away.

The sun will die, and so shall I
Fall from the sky. Goodbye.
