"I run it through a crown 402 power amp pushing two Peavey PR12 speakers to the front of house and two 15" Peavey monitors. This mixer is dead quiet at high volume and allows excellent control and tone shaping."

You can do recording with it just fine. The "powered" part of the mixer is the phantom power for the mics and also for the effects. It can't run speakers on its own. Even if it some how did, you would get minimum volume.
