As Britain has come up with some of the greatest acts of all time Zep, Floyd, Purple, Iron Maiden, it seems only fair that we have to pay inflated prices over Americans

Damn this world for making Gibsons, Mesa's and PRS so expensive over here!

Anyway, i am considering investing in a Boogie Dual Rectifier (thank holy shiit for Ebay)
I have never played one however, one of the few i havent.

My question(s) is, how versitile are these babies?

Ive seen many play with them, but it all seems metal.

I love Strapping Young Lad's sound etc, but the amp has classic rock and high gain voicings, so is this ideal for classic rock as well as metal (i play both)

I currently have a modded JCM900 and JCM800, but i want a Boogie.

Dont worry bout guitars and pickups, i have the best!

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

To be honest they arent ideal for classic rock if i say so, but your JCM800 and JCM900 will handle tat exelent. YOu might as well get the Recto for metal only.

Ok, thats a shame (i love my JCM900), but will you still have a JCM800? If you do then get the Recto. If have to sell both Maarshalls then i say no. If you need a metal amp check out a Peavey XXX or 5150 (depending on character) wich are alot cheaper.

Yeah, Dual Rectos (and I'm going to get slayed for saying this, I know) are pretty much one trick ponies, as far as the Boogie line goes. They're metal amps. If you're not just going to play metal, there are a lot of better investments to be made out there. If you want Boogie specifically, the Mark IV can get decent metal tones and great classic rock tones. But don't I hear you Brits gloating about ENGL all the time? Have you checked them out?

Great guys, i wont get one, if they are the old one trick bitches!

I'll keep me Marshalls.

I want a few like John Sykes or Scott Gorham, best sound ive ever heard in my life!

How do i find people to mod Marshalls?

of course ive seen a guy play some pop rock with a dual recifier 2x12 combo.

ya, you should look at 5105s which go for around 500 sometimes on eBay, then there would be no need for all these heads so you could just send me that jcm900 or if you you are feeling generous, the jcm800, thats 5247 Johnson Ave. zip code 61106, Durand, Illinois, USA*

*not actually where i live, so dont send any porn to that adress as it will probably be some old, retired farmer

Sure thing mate!

Marshall forever!

Yeah atleast all tube ones. i own a JCM0 and just get an OD and you can get huge amounts of gain. If you want it darker (like a Recto) get an EQ.

perhaps you should check out laneys? or ENGL even. they're a lot cheaper in england. which is lame because i disslike mesa (recto's anyway, marks i like), but love engl and laney. it's not fair! ah at least we still get laney at a pretty fair price. and the inflation on ENGL isn't near as much as it is for you guys and mesa.

but anyway i strongly suggest you check out an ENGL powerball, it does EVERYTHING ($1,400 new in england i think) and a laney vh100r. both are amazing amps. and cab wise i'd have a look into laney cabs.

I will search for the ENGL's, what about the Screamers, Blackmore sig head etc, any good?

5150 > you

Although I guess if you have enough for a powerball why not. Four channels of furry. What about Framus you get them over there?

mesa's tone is dark. those 2 amps are pretty bright.
